| Many initiatives are working hard to help people improve their living conditions in developing countries. At times they operate in the same area and don't even know each other. To improve cooperation and synergies SOLUX is one of the founding members of the new Togo Network, bringing together more than 20 German speaking organizations/NGOs. After an initial conference in spring, we could already see some progress, such as microcredit initiatives and rural development projects starting to develop joint programs. SOLUX works in close co-operation with Non Government Organisations (NGOs), and also implements own projects. During the last few years, thousands of SOLUX lamps have been exported or assembled in more than 30 countries. In the last couple of months we saw a strong increase of interest into our products. We delivered solar lights to Haiti, Cuba, New Guinea, Tanzania, Togo, just to name a few. A new workshop for assembly of LED-100 was started in Peru / a very remote Amazonas region end of last year. People love the solar lights and there is already some follow-up business planned. Find some pictures here. More and more we see successful financing solutions via micro credits to help people purchase the solar lights. |

In 2008 Solux won the World Bank 'award 'Lighting Africa' to provide alternative lighting to Africa. With the awarded budget SOLUX started the project “One Child One Solar Light” in Ghana under the management of SOLUX subsidiary Solar4Ghana Ltd, to provide solar lights to children in rural areas. Now, after one year, SOLUX member Franz Kies went back to Ghana to evaluate the project and provide a report to the World Bank. Franz will also present the project at the Lighting Africa conference in Nairobi/Kenya in May. One Child One Solarlight is mainly addressing teachers of rural schools. It brought recognized improvement to the quality of life for a lot of people in Ghana. So far about 25.000 people, to a great part children, profit from Solux Solar Lights in Ghana. In March, 2010 the German National Committee of the UN Decade of Education declared “One Child One Solar Light” an official UN Decade Project! |
